Arts, Beats, Eats ... And Guns?

City officials in Royal Oak expect a huge turnout by gun-rights advocates with handguns in holsters at Monday night's meeting of the Royal Oak City Commission.

The group is expected to protest a city contract that bans guns from the Ford Arts, Beats & Eats festival, scheduled for Sept. 3-6 in downtown Royal Oak.

The city attorney is researching state law to see whether its rules, which ban guns from some entertainment facilities and from establishments serving liquor, would apply to the outdoor festival.

The festival, now in its 13th year, was previously held in downtown Pontiac.
