Wings To Play Next Season At The Joe
The Detroit Red Wings plan to play the 2010-2011 season at Joe Louis Arena as talks continue with the city about their home.
Ilitch Holdings Inc. spokeswoman Jennifer Haselhuhn confirmed the plans Monday after the team's owner Mike Ilitch announced that he is interested in buying the NBA's Detroit Pistons in part to make sure the Pistons don't leave town.
Haselhuhn says talks continue with the city about a new agreement for Joe Louis Arena, which opened in 1979.
The team and the city agreed in June to extend discussions on a new lease deal. The Red Wings have been contemplating whether to build a new arena or move at least temporarily to The Palace of Auburn Hills, the home of the Pistons.
Ilitch also owns the Detroit Tigers.
