Wayne Law sets annual labor law symposium: Wayne State University Law School students, alumni and friends interested in increasing their insight into labor law are invited to attend the 18th annual Bernard Gottfried Memorial Labor Law Symposium from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14. Sponsored by Wayne Law, the National Labor Relations Board, Region Seven, and the State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Section, the symposium will be held in the Law School's Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium and will feature breakout sessions led by local and national labor relations experts. Sessions include "Privacy in the Workplace: Section 7 vs. Employer Rights" and "Improving the NLRB by Administrative Change." Board member Craig Becker will be this year's keynote luncheon speaker. Former Board members Robert Battista and Dennis Devaney, as well as former general counsel Leonard Page, will kick off the afternoon 75th NLRB anniversary reception. The registration fee for the symposium is $100 and includes all sessions, a continental breakfast and lunch. Students, NLRB staff and government employees may register for a reduced cost of $25. Those interested in attending should contact the Law School Dean's Office at (313) 577-3933.The sign-up deadline is Oct. 1. Proceeds from the symposium will be used to fund future educational programs and labor-related studies at the Law School. Parking is available for $4.25 in Structure 1 on Palmer Street in front of the Law School.
