Connect Through Poetry In The Classroom

Everyone is from someplace, and students and teachers of all ages enjoy writing "I am from" poems.

The format of an I am from poem asks kids to write about the foods their family enjoys, the neighborhood they live in, likes and dislikes, and other factors about their cultural background.

By sharing these poems in class, students get to learn more about their fellow students and about their community. Teachers can write their own poem, and share some of their own life and experiences with their students as well.
