Romulus police have called off their search for a missing ten-year old girl.

Heather Messick had been missing overnight from her home off Eureka, between Inkster and Middlebelt, however police say she returned home around 6:45 a.m. Thursday.

Police Lt. John Leacher says she got into an argument with her mother and went to a neighbor’s house late Wednesday night.

“We’ve confirmed that she did actually show up at the neighbors house, the neighbor said ‘hey it’s late and we’re getting ready to go to bed you can’t stay here and you need to go back home,’ Heather left that location but hasn’t been seen since,” Leacher said.

Police weren’t immediately releasing details about where the girl spent the night, but say she is safe.
