Vehicle Innovation Contest Entry Deadline Extended

SAE Detroit Section and the MIT Enterprise Forum Great Lakes Chapter have extended the entry deadline to Oct. 15 for their Third Annual Vehicle Innovation Competition.

The competition goal is to shortcut the arduous filtering process in large organizations to bring new innovations to the industry in a time of need, allowing entrepreneurs old and young alike from new or mature companies get their automotive innovation to market faster.

Qualifying entries should be innovations based on vehicle content (hardware or software), technology that helps design the vehicle, and technology that helps produce the vehicle. Target vehicles are limited to driver-driven, land-based vehicles.

Winners will receive $30,000 to $50,000 automotive commercialization acceleration services. GM Ventures will be a finalist judge and provide the new company winner a$5,000 additional award. There are two categories for winners: established company and new company. The finalists will present to more than 100 automaker and top-tier supplier officials and other industry experts Dec 6.

Any entrepreneurs with game changing value for automotive industry should consider entering with a business plan summary and powerpoint overview. The winner two years ago is already assigned on future car programs.
