Repairs Beginning On I-94 Bridge At Nine Mile Rd.

Beginning this morning, traveling westbound I-94 at Nine Mile in St. Clair Shores is going to be a pain.

It was July 27th, when a tractor-trailor owned by Munoz Trucking Company hit the 14-foot-high Nine Mile Road bridge, damaging the structure.

Temporary repairs were made at the time, but now crews will be making some permanent fixes that include work on the structure and on some bent steel support beams. Work is expected to continue through Friday, October 22.

For motorists, the big change will be having only one lane on the westbound side of I-94. Drivers may avoid the area by taking westbound I-696 to southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue), then eastbound M-102 (Eight Mile Road) back to westbound I-94.

The driver of the truck was ticketed by police, and now the company will be billed for the cost of the project.
