I-94 Crash Stalls Morning Commute

I-94 is back open again in Allen Park after a pair of steel haulers collided with a their truck and lost part of their load.  The crash tied up the morning drive for hours from the airport to downtown.

WWJ's Ron Dewey spoke with Kevin Van Camp, who was a guest at the Greenfield Inn Best Western, all of 100 feet from the freeway where the wreck happened, making him jump from his bed.

"I looked out the window, and I knew that it was probably on the highway, because it was out in that direction. But, I didn't know. It sounded like it could have been a plane crash or something -- it was very loud," Van Camp said.

That part of eastbound I-94 was closed for six hours as crews removed the wreckage and a pair of steel coils that fell from one of the trailers.
