Johnson, Benson Look To Boost Vote In SOS Race

Oakland County Clerk Ruth Johnson and Wayne State University associate law professor Jocelyn Benson both are making a get-out-the-vote push as the race for Michigan secretary of state draws to a close.

Benson is the Democratic candidate. She scheduled a nine-stop tour Monday across Michigan from Detroit and Flint to Grand Rapids. She was to wrap up the day with fellow Democrats at a rally in Ann Arbor.

Johnson is the Republican candidate. Her appearances on the eve of the election include a get-out-the-vote rally hosted by the 9th Congressional District Republican Party and the Oakland County Republican Party.

Green Party candidate John Anthony La Pietra, U.S. Taxpayers Party candidate Robert Gale and Libertarian Party candidate Scotty Boman also are running.
