Math And Science Like Peanut Butter & Jelly

Math and Science Teachers from across Metro Detroit are gathering this weekend. The Detroit Area Council of Teachers of Mathematics and The Metro Detroit Science Teachers Association are holding a joint conference this Saturday, November 13th at Lamphere High School in Madison Heights.

It is the first time the two groups have held their conference jointly since 1999. More than 500 teachers are expected to attend the conference. Conference Co-Chair Christine Kincaid Dewey--who teaches in the Warren Consolidated School District--says the event will give teachers a chance to sit down together and discuss what has worked well, or not worked, in their classes. She says the event will promote STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, which educators believe will help Michigan and the U.S. compete with students from around the world and lead us out of the recession. Dewey says "Math and Science go together like peanut butter and jelly."

Same day registration is available at the conference at Lamphere High School, located on 13 Mile Road in Madison Heights. Get more info and registration details at: www.dactm.org or www.mdsta.org
