The Detroit City Council has approved a request to install 20 Woodward Avenue All American Road signs from Jefferson to Eight Mile Road.

WWJ Newsradio 950’s Florence Walton reports only 32 roadways in the United States are designated “All American Roadways.”  Colorful two-by-four American Roadway signs will soon begin popping up along Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

Woodward Avenue Action Association Executive Director Heather Carmona says 70 Woodward Avenue All American Road signs will mark the historic road ways 27 miles from Detroit’s river front to Pontiac.

“It’s a federal designation from the U.S. Department of Transportation. And, it’s a desgination that’s brought just a little more than $4 million to Woodward Avenue. And we’re hopeful it will continue to bring more,” Carmona said.

Federal dollars paid for the signs.  The Woodward Avenue Action Association is working to enhance economic and community development along Woodward Ave.
