Neighbor Dispute Leaves 3 Dead

A neighbor dispute on Detroit's east side turns deadly Sunday.

Police say one person was shot outside of the Joliet Townhomes off East Lafayette and Rivard Street.

"Officers from the Northeastern District received a call for service for some kind of neighbor dispute that had erupted, which resulted in, unfortunately, one individual being fatally wounded and shot," said Deputy Chief Paul Welles.

Welles says the suspect then ran back into his home where he hid.

"We secured the residence and later with a search warrant entered the location and found an older gentleman also deceased and our alleged suspect deceased as well," said Welles.

Welles says they believe the suspect shot the man and then himself.

Police are not releasing the relation between the suspect and the man who was shot inside the home.

An investigation is ongoing.
