Suspected Car Thieves Caught Near Tech Center

Two teenagers are facing charges after they were caught by Oakland County Sheriff deputies in a stolen car.

Deputies caught up with the 2010 red Jeep Cherokee Friday morning near Benstein and Maple roads.  The driver, identified as a 17-year old turned into the Oakland Technical Center parking lot and when the sheriff's deputy turned on his overhead lights, the suspects jumped out and ran.

The SUV rolled into a parked car.

The driver was caught a short distance from the parking lot.  The 16 year old passenger was found in a classroom inside the tech center.  He allegedly dropped a wallet, school identification and skull cap when he jumped out of the vehicle.

Walled Lake, Wolverine Lake and Wixom police helped in the search.

Both suspects were turned over to their parents.  The teens face unlawfully driving away in an auto and fleeing and eluding charges.
