7 Candidates Considered For Macomb Co. Sheriff
In Macomb County, a committee set up to appoint a new sheriff will be interviewing seven candidates this Friday. A decision on who will replace Mark Hackel at the beginning of the year could come by next Monday.
The seven candidates include current Sheriff's Department employees Undersheriff Kent Lagerquist, Captain Tony Wickersham and Sgt. David Willis.
Former Dearborn Police Chief Tim Strutz and current or former Detroit cops Melvin Turner, Robert Dunlap, and Brian Ede also will be interviewed.
Selection committee chairman and chief probate judge Mark Switalski says a decision could be made sooner than later.
"If we have a decision Friday, we're free to make it Friday. If not, we'll meet again on Monday morning, the 20th," Switalski said.
Hackel takes over as County Executive January 1st.
