Billboard Supports MSU, Takes Jab At Saban

It's something thousands of drivers will be seeing.  Two Michigan State University graduates and local businessmen are showing their support for MSU and taking a jab at former Spartan football coach Nick Saban at the same time.

Rick Berman, president of Park Furniture and John Barlow of Barlow Communications are paying for a 15 foot by 35 foot billboard that is up along I-94 near Cadieux.

The green sign, designed to urge MSU on to victory when it faces Alabama on January 1st in the Capitol One Bowl will remain in place through January 5, 2010.

The billboard reads "GO STATE! Beat Alabama and Saban."

Saban coached the Spartans from 1995-1999, before leaving the school after the regular season to take the coaching position at Louisiana State University. Saban has been with Alabama since 2007.

"The other reason we did the sign is Nick Saban was the former football coach who left under..let's just call it less than normal circumstances," Barlow said. "And we would love to see our alma mater beat Mr. Saban as well as Alabama."

Barlow is hoping others jump on the bandwagon and show their school spirit.
