Police Seek More Tips In Serial Rape Case

Detroit Police have received over 70 tips as they hunt for the serial rapist suspected in seven rapes and one attempted rape on the city's east side.  The latest attack took place Monday night.

While police are not releasing details, they say the man is suspected in the string of rapes has attacked women walking alone, at bus stops and getting out of their cars. According to police, the man takes the women at gunpoint to a secluded location, then robs and sexually assaults them.

Crime Stoppers President John Broad tells WWJ they've received some clues, but  it isn't enough.

"We need to make sure that everyone feels safe and protected, and that's not the case right now," Broad said.

"So, we need to the community to come forward and give the information that they have. Even if it's only a partial clue, they need to tell us right away," he said.

John Broad says you can remain anonymous -- and there is a reward of up to $1,000 if you have information that results in an arrest.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, 5'9″, with a thin build, mustache and goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to call 313-596-1950.
