Open House For EMU's Science Building Addition: The public and members of the Eastern Michigan University community are invited to tour EMU's new addition to its science complex during an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26. EMU has invested $90 million in the construction of the science complex, which includes the dramatic, new addition along with extensive renovations to the adjacent Mark Jefferson Building. A major centerpiece of the new addition is the new spherical classroom – the planetarium – which is visible on the north end of the complex through the windows to the third through fifth floors, and appears suspended above the atrium. The science complex is the largest single construction project in the history of the University. It is part of EMU's unprecedented, $195-million, four-year capital plan. The open house will include tours of classrooms and labs and light refreshments. An EMU pet rock will be given to the first 200 visitors. The complex is home to the departments of geography and geology, psychology,  physics and astronomy, biology and chemistry. Visitors can park in McKenny Hall lot or Oakwood Lot South, then take the new suspended walking bridge to the atrium entrance.
