Digital Divide Over Driving With Cell Phones

DETROIT (WWJ)  While the U.S.Transportation secretary has publicly criticized even hands-free systems like Ford 'Sync' there was a lot of common ground at their meeting states Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally.

"We are all focused on how do we really enhance the driving experience and we are all going to link up to a digital-wired world and so we had a chance to really review where we are going," Mulally said.

WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert spoke with Mulally who says Ford Motor has claimed that the distraction issue is when people take their hands off the wheel and their eyes off the road.

Others have said that the distraction comes from  the general act of talking on the cell phone that creates the distraction while driving.
