State Rep. Calling For Moratorium On Foreclosures

DETROIT (WWJ) - Legislators have been off of work for about a week. But state lawmakers are back in Lansing Tuesday and they have alot on their plates. One member of the Detroit delegation explains what she wants to get done.

Former Detroit City Councilwoman Alberta Tinsley-Talabi is taking her fight to save neighborhoods to Lansing. She's the new state representative in the 3rd district. "Everyone has seen the housing crisis remains a crisis."... "There needs to be a moratorium period, point-blank, right now, today," she says.

Tinsley-Talabi tells WWJ she'll be asking Governor Snyder for a moratorium on foreclosures, especially in the city of Detroit. She says banks are not protecting the homes, leaving them the targets of vandals and metal scrappers. And she says that leaves stripped-down eyesores in neighborhoods throughout the area.
