Accused Tanning Salon Peeper Faces Charges

A tanning salon employee could face jail time after police allege he snapped photos of a woman while she was undressed.

Police say it happened at the Baja Beach Tan in Clinton Township last September. A female customer said she had taken her clothes off to tan in a supposedly private room, when she noticed something was amiss.

"She was in one of the booths, getting dressed, and all of a sudden she see it looks like a camera phone, reached over the stall and pointed down at her.  She felt the guy was taking some pictures of her, and she immediately left the tanning salon and called the police," said Captain Richard Maierle.

The woman told police she was the only customer at the salon when the incident took place.

The 22-year old Edward Hakim is due in court next week to face felony charges. If convicted, he faces up to two years in jail and/or a $2,000 fine.
