Neighbors React To Possible Charges In Police Raid Death Of 7-Year-Old

DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan State Police have submitted a warrant request for a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a seven-year-old girl in a police raid of her Detroit home last May.  It's unclear who could be charged in the case.

The prosecutor's office is saying only that the suspect is a man.

Seven-year-old Aiyana Jones was shot during a police raid at her home last May as officers searched for a suspect in a homicide.

Neighbors on Lillybridge street near Mack and Warren, where Aiyana lived, say they hope someone, especially the shooter, faces charges.

WWJ's Stephanie Davis has more from the neighborhood where Aiyana Stanley Jones died.

"Cause nobody's responsible for that but the guy behind the trigger, if it wouldn't be for the person behind the trigger, she would still be here today," says a neighbor who did not want to be identified.

"But who, is it going to be the right person? Is it going to be the person....that, like, when they commit a murder in the street, the judge wants the trigger man. Is it going to be the trigger man? Any body else and they are putting the blame in the wrong place. We need the guy that shot her," the neighbor tells WWJ.

"Something went horribly wrong," adds another neighbor.
