Fundraisers Step Lively For Lung Association
DETROIT (WWJ) - About 700 people climbed 70 flights of stairs inside Detroit's Renaissance Center to raise money for the American Lung Association.
Organizers say more than $140,000 was raised at the fifth annual Fight For Air Climb Sunday.
David Cooney of Brighton was among the climbers. Cooney had been walking 3 to 5 miles several times a week, in order to prepare for the climb.
Cooney received a double lung transplant in 2009 after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a fatal lung disease that claimed the life of his twin brother six years ago.
