Ren Cen Is Host To "Fight For Air-Climb Detroit"

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Renaissance Center will be full of climbers Sunday, as the "Fight For Air-Climb Detroit" returns.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Brian Larsen reports that participants in the American Lung Association's 5th annual event at the Ren Cen will fight 70 flights of stairs to make it to the top.

Among them David Cooney of Brighton. He has received a double lung transplant after being diagnosed with an aggressive lung disease.

Cooney has been walking 3 to 5 miles several times a week --- which should be good preparation for the climb.

The event gets underway Sunday, with all proceeds going towards lung health research.
