Oneupweb Seeks Change with Recruitment and Remodel

The Traverse City interactive agency Oneupweb says its recent growth from new clients has created several available positions and means the company is adding space at its headquarters on the shores of West Grand Traverse Bay.

Not only is Oneupweb's staff expanding, so is their Mad Men-esque interior. The blueprints for their new conference rooms may appear mid-20th-century vogue, but company officials promise that the technology will be out there on the bleeding edge.

"Signing on new clients is great," said Oneupweb CEO and founder Lisa Wehr. "More work means we need more innovative minds to help execute projects. We're happy to be busy and we're excited to see new faces within our team."

Oneupweb's crew consists of search marketing experts, social media gurus, sales pros and design trendsetters. The Oneupwebbers are accompanied by three furry friends who all come together to create a progressive, chic atmosphere, whether it's during a ping pong championship, Talk Like a Pirate Day or a boisterous company meeting.

"We're a fun bunch here," Wehr said. "Not only do we aim to hire the most elite brains, we also look for ambitious, energetic personalities."

It's Oneupweb's relentless moxie that led them to their recent 2011 Silver Addy Award for their campaign reel -- an innovative film about what they do -- a perfect piece for job seekers to check out.  Aside from award winning work, new employees will be wowed by Oneupweb's beloved game room, with Nintendo Wii, pinball, foosball and classic arcade novelties. The company culture is very much like a family, something Wehr strives for, even as the business rockets skyward.

"Intelligence, creativity and drive set us above our competition, but it's our office lifestyle that helps keep us united as a team," explains Wehr. "Although our corporate familial bonds make work pleasurable, our policy is to encourage employees to leave at 5 p.m. to enjoy their home lives."

Oneup spokewoman Hillary Burns said Oneupweb currently has openings for a graphic designer, a Web developer, a software developer a national sales and client services representative, a paid search specialist and a natural search specialist. More information on the openings is available at www.oneupweb.com/about-us/#careers.

The new conference rooms, Burns said, will be in a part of Oneupweb's building that had been rented out to other businesses. They should be complete by spring, she said. They'll be stocked with the latest and greatest technology to help employees collaborate with clients.

The new rooms will add 3,500 square feet to Oneupweb's office space, which had been 16,000 square feet of the 24,000-square-foot building it owns.

Oneupweb employees are happy to call Traverse City their home. Even at work the staff enjoys the area's natural scenery, as every workstation is granted a view of the Grand Traverse Bay.

"We couldn't imagine working anywhere else," Wehr said. "The beauty of Northern Michigan provides us with endless inspiration, and the casualness of the Midwestern lifestyle lets our creativity run wild."
