New Charges Expected In Funeral Home Fraud
ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - Dozens of additional charges are expected against Roseville funeral home owners Mark and Lisa Buehler, accused of bilking clients for pre-paid funerals.
WWJ's Ron Dewey spoke with Tom McGhee, one of what is expected to be at least 200 victims in the growing scandal.
"The poor people rely on Buehler because it's less expensive than the other funeral homes. I have firsthand knowleges of that, because I knew (Mark and Lisa Buehler's) dad," McGhee said.
"Shame on them. It's just pathetic what they pulled on us," he said.
Prosecutors allege that Mark Buehler, 62, and Lisa Buehler, 42, took funds for pre-paid funerals and used the money for personal purposes. The Buehler Funeral home has been closed since the couple's arrest several weeks ago.
A preliminary court hearing set for Wednesday was postponed until April to give authorities more time to sift through a stack of documents that bring even more vicitms and charges.
