Navistar Opens Madison Heights Facility

MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) - The company that help make military vehicles resistant to attack has opened a new facility in Madison Heights.

Navistar Defense President Archie Massicotte cut the ribbon during a ceremony, Monday.

"The work that goes on here saves lives of soldiers every day, and I coined this phrase that we come to work every day as if someone's life depended on it -- and it truly does," Massicotte said.

Massicotte said he hopes the new facility will eventually mean new jobs.

"Every day, we're looking at new technology -- new ways to prevent the bad guys from hitting our trucks and blowing up our soldiers. And, so far, we've been very, very successful," he said.

Navistar had outgrown its old facility in Sterling Heights. The company currently has 180 employees.
