Nationals 5, Tigers 2

LAKELAND, Fla. (WWJ/AP) - Tough outing for Detroit Tigers' starter Rick Porcello, giving up five runs and eight hits in the 5-2 loss to the Washington Nationals on Thursday night.

Brennan Boesch the bright spot in the game with three hits for Detroit.

Jayson Werth hit his first home run of the spring and Michael Morse hit his seventh for the Washington Nationals.

Both homers came off Detroit starter Rick Porcello, who gave up five runs and eight hits in five innings.

Jordan Zimmermann struck out six in five shutout innings for the Nationals. Six straight batters struck out in the seventh inning against Joaquin Benoit of the Tigers and Tyler Clippard of the Nationals.
