US Arabs, Muslims Claim Harassment At Canadian Border
LANSING (WWJ) - Congressman John Conyers said he is calling on two federal departments to investigate complaints by U.S. Arabs and Muslims of being harassed by agents after returning to Michigan from Canada.
The top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee said that he will also talk to committee Chairman Lamar Smith about the accusations.
The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations filed complaints this week against the Justice and Homeland Security departments after receiving dozens of complaints of harassment, including being handcuffed, locked up and groped at border crossings in Port Huron and Detroit.
