Senator Levin Gets His Own Volt

 DETROIT (WWJ) -  Senator Carl Levin gets a new set of wheels Friday. The Senator is buying his first electric car. WWJ's Chrystal Knight spoke with Levin about his new purchase.

It's a brand new Chevy Volt for Senator Carl Levin, it's his first electric vehicle. Levin says he's been on the waiting list for six months to get his new Volt, and he's very excited about owning one.

"I've been leasing a car for many years, and I can't think of a better car, than a car which has the capabilities that are the future capabilities. Of course, I'd only drive an American car so I want an American car with what I consider future technologies," says Levin.

Levin's purchase from the Lafontaine dealership in Dexter comes the same week that President Obama announces all government vehicles will be alternative fuel vehicles by 2015.
