Innovative Analytics honored as one of 2011's "Michigan 50 Companies to Watch": Kalamazoo-based Innovative Analytics Inc. has been recognized as one of the 2011 "Michigan 50 Companies to Watch," an awards program sponsored by the Edward Lowe Foundation and presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.  The company will be honored at an awards ceremony during the seventh annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business event, April 28 at the Lansing Center in Lansing. Media 1 Wins Another Silver Telly Award: The creative talent at Grand Haven-based Media 1 has done it again. After winning a Silver Telly in 2009, Media 1 decided to try again this year and for the second time has received a Silver Telly, the Telly Awards' highest honor. Media 1 earned the award for a short, Flash-based animation featuring servicesoffered by the Education Services division of Hewlett-Packard. The HP Education Services Attach eMercial animation featured an engaging and humorous approach to presenting key messages to the HP salesforce on the benefits of using the HP "Attach" program -- attaching HP Education Services to existing HP product or service sales. The online "commercial" showcases an average sales guy named "Joe" and the super sales hero he can become using the "Attach" program. Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. Media 1 was selected as a Telly Award Winner out of nearly 13,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents in the 32nd Annual Telly Awards for 2011. Unified Business Technologies Wind SBTDC Award: The 13 companies honored for the 2010 Best Small Business Awards have been selected from over 16,000 companies the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Centers provided with confidential counseling and training in 2010. These companies were chosen based on their success in creating jobs, increasing sales, improving their business strategy and their involvement with the MI-SBTDC. Michelle D'Souza, president and CEO of Unified Business Technologies, was born an entrepreneur.  She started her first company when she was 15. After moving to the United States, D'Souza could not find a job, so she started UBT out of her basement. UBT provides human resources, services and solutions for a variety of technological and engineering companies.  They are a main provider of technological services to large government agencies and universities. D'Souza came to the Oakland County Business Center MI-SBTDC office in theSoutheast Michigan region seeking assistance with taking her company to the next level.  She enrolled in the Venture Forward program which caters to presidents and CEO of growing businesses.  Since then, D'Souza has achieved sustainable growth in her business.
