Major Drug Bust In Wayne County

DETROIT (WWJ) - Wayne County Sheriffs deputies have shut down what they call a massive marijuana operation. Deputies - with the help of ATF agents and DTE Energy raided an abandoned building near midtown Detroit on Saturday.

In the raid police seized electronics, growing equipment and nearly 1,300 marijuana plants with a street value of at least $750,000 dollars.

Wayne County Sheriff's spokeswoman Paula Bridges says it was a tip from a resident that set this in motion and she encourages others to report illegal activity in their neighborhoods.

"If they happen to see something that just doesn't look right, such as an abandoned  location that has, you know, power going to it, and individuals coming and going and you know that this is just not right, they should give us a call," says Bridges.

Four people were arrested during the drug raid and should be arraigned this week. Investigators say it was probably the most elaborate set-up seen in Wayne County.
