AT&T Outlines 2011 Network Investment Highlights for Detroit Area

AT&T late Thursday announced highlights of local network improvement plans for 2011.

AT&T is focused on enabling 4G speeds and enhanced reliability for customers in the Detroit area, part of its overall planned $19-billion investment in its U.S. wireless and wireline networks and other capital projects in 2011.

AT&T plans to invest millions in its wireless network in the Detroit area this year, including network enhancements like:

* Building more than 30 cell sites to increase coverage and network capacity.
* Continuing to add network capacity to further reduce network congestion and improve customers' mobile voice and broadband experience.
* Enhancing in-building coverage and installing distributed antenna systems to enhance coverage in high-traffic areas like stadiums and event venues.

AT&T plans to provide additional details on Detroit-area network investment plans on a community-by-community basis over the coming weeks.  For updates on the AT&T wireless network, please visit the AT&T network news page.
