Man Dies After Falling Into Water While Fishing

PORT AUSTIN (AP) - Authorities say a 20-year-old Durand man has died after falling into the water while fishing in Port Austin.

Huron County Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson tells WNEM-TV that James M. McComb II was fishing with another man on Monday afternoon at a breakwall when he went into the water to free a snagged net. Hanson says McComb was washed into the water by a wave.

Hanson said the other man tried to save McComb, but were unsuccessful. Rescue crews searched for more than an hour before finding McComb in Lake Huron.

Port Austin is located about 115 miles north of Detroit.
