Wayne County Preps For Marshmallow Drop

WESTLAND (WWJ) - It's a big job this week in Westland.  Workers at the Wayne County Parks are spending two days with 20,000 marshmallows.  Worker Scott Maher said they're getting ready for Friday's marshmallow drop.

"We're starting with opening the marshmallows. And then as we're loading the marshmallows into the bags, we're flowering them as we go along. So they won't stick together," Maher told WWJ's Sandra McNeil.

The marshmallows will fall from a chopper on Friday, where waiting kids will get a prize.  A few marshmallows flew this week between the workers, too.

Wayne County Parks Director Beverly Watts got in a few good shots.

"Yeah, I try to. This is the first time they really can take a punch at the boss, too. Really, I was the main target here today," she said.

Wayne County's 27th Annual Marshmallow Drop at Nankin Mills Park, located on Hines Drive just east of Ann Arbor Trail, will take place on Good Friday, April 22 at 11 a.m.
