Hazel Park Church Serves Free Meals To Less Fortunate

HAZEL PARK (WWJ) - Less fortunate residents near Hazel Park are about to get a needed boost. WWJ's Rob Sanford said a local church will soon be the headquarters for free daily meals.

Starting Sunday, up to 1,000 free meals a day will be served at Landmark Community Church on N. Chrysler Drive in Hazel Park.

Organizers say its all part of a Detroit outreach effort by a group called "Everyone A Chance To Hear." The group is also getting support and help from Gleaners Food Bank and Forgotten Harvest.

The meals will be prepared at a mission in the city of Detroit, then delivered to the church.

The hours will be from 3:00 to 6:00 pm daily at the church, and officials say they will not turn anyone away.
