Police Accuse Man Of Robbing, Raping Teen

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said police have arrested a 47-year-old man who allegedly robbed and then raped a 14-year-old boy on the city's east side.

The incident happened last Thursday at a business on East Seven Mile between Ryan and Mound roads.

Investigators said 47-year-old Curtis Ervin and a second man snatched money from the teen's hand and fled the store.

When the teen chased the pair toward the rear of the location, police say Ervin grabbed the boy and sexually assaulted him. Both suspects then fled on foot.

The next day, investigators were canvassing the area when they observed Ervin near the same business. He matched the physically and clothing description of the wanted suspect. The officers arrested Ervin without any incidents.

Ervin was arraigned on charges of criminal sexual conduct first degree, criminal sexual conduct second degree and habitual second offense. His bond was set at $900,000 cash.
