Gov. Snyder Met With Protest Along Parade Route

BENTON HARBOR (WWJ/AP) - Participants in an annual parade in southwestern Michigan saw more than smiling faces in the crowd as protesters targeted parade grand marshal Gov. Rick Snyder.

The South Bend Tribune reports protesters angered by a law granting new powers to emergency financial managers were spread out Saturday along the route of the Blossomtime Grand Floral parade in Benton Harbor.

Snyder signed a law in March giving state-appointed financial managers broader powers to correct communities' and school districts' finances.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
