Detroit Lunch Lady Allegedly Caught With Hand In Cookie Jar

DETROIT (WWJ) - Even though his successor has taken over the day-to-day operations of the Detroit Public Schools, ex-schools manager Robert Bobb is still working to stop corruption in the district.

The latest incident? Somebody is suspected of stealing lunch money.

Bobb told WWJ's City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas he has been disappointed by the level of corruption in the Detroit Public Schools System.

Bobb is especially disappointed by the most recent incident, when a lunch lady was allegedly caught on tape stealing lunch money.

"We were observing someone taking money from one of our schools and that person will be arrested next week," Bobb said.

"I'm very surprised at some of the things, given the fact that, you know, we've had so much publicity around some of the low and high-profile cases over the last year or so," the former Emergency Financial Manager said.

Bobb also said several cases of corruption are still pending, including one involving $500,000 worth of stolen merchandise.
