Tri-Community Coalition To Host Golf Tournament Fundraiser

OAK PARK (WWJ) - Golfers and their family and friends from Berkley, Huntington Woods and Oak Park will hit The Links of Novi on Monday, June 6th for the 13th annual Tri-Community Coalition (TCC) "Swinging for Scholarships and More" golf tournament.

Event proceeds will go towards community-based, educational initiatives and $1,000 college scholarships that will be awarded to high school students from Berkley and Oak Park.

This year, the scramble/best ball tournament will kick off with registration at 9:00 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. There is a $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one. In addition, a box lunch and post-tournament dinner with award reception are included.

"The Links of Novi is a tremendous golf course and we have a fun outing planned. We're hoping for a big turnout of community leaders, business owners, families and friends," Judy Rubin, Executive Director, Tri-Community Coalition said in a statement.

The fee is $125 for an individual golfer and $500 for a foursome.

Interested players and foursomes of men, women and co-ed teams are invited to join their family, friends and playing partners for a fantastic day of fun, festivities and fundraising for a great cause.

Non-golfers are invited to attend the dinner/award reception for $30 per person.

"There are other ways besides golfing to support the TCC," Oak Park Mayor, Jerry Naftaly said in a statement. "Being a sponsor or volunteer is also a great way to contribute to the Coalition's efforts through leadership training programs and events which benefit our community's youth."

The mission of the Tri-Community Coalition is to work with its community to prevent substance abuse and related risky behavior and to promote healthy community living for our youth through the tools of education, partnerships and effective programming.
