Merchants Target Veterans For Discounts & Specials

DETROIT (WWJ) - Many stores and services salute veterans of all ages not only this Memorial Day weekend, but all year round. With a valid military ID, veterans have special privileges to exciting discounts and offers.

Leading phone service providers, popular fast food chains, trendy clothing brands and entertainment venues join in on celebrating our heroes.

Sprint offers a 10-18 percent discount for veterans and offers a hold on accounts for the deployed.  Verizon competes by offering a 23 percent discount on veterans' monthly bills.

For hungry vets, McDonald's, Sonic and Taco Bell are among the many fast food chains offering discounts upon purchase.

And after spending a long time in active duty away from family and friends, many travel companies are happy to offer discounts to help veterans make up for lost time.  Disneyland and Disney Resorts offer military discounts during purchase.  Best Western and Comfort Inn offer discounts to vets during check-in.

After taking off that prestigious uniform, vets can style-up with Oakley offers via their web page. Foot Locker offers 20 percent off purchases and Nautica offers 10 percent.  Special to the ladies, Mary Kay Cosmetics offers 10 percent for online orders and by referencing your service and affiliation vets can request a free gift and other discounts through their web page.

On average, our military risk their lives for a minimal, annual salary of $25,000.  These brand names and corporate providers have stepped up to further honor these individuals.
