Joe Louis Fist Hit By Vandals

DETROIT (WWJ) - Vandals strike at Detroit's Joe Louis fist.

Reporting from Woodward Ave. at Jefferson in downtown Detroit, WWJ's Florence Walton said that someone, over the Memorial Day Weekend, vandalized the fist statue as well as the Michigan Labor Legacy Landmark in Hart Plaza.

Someone painted the words "B. Pebbles loves Tone Capone..." and then drew a picture of a male sexual organ.

The 24-foot statue of boxing great Joe Louis' fist was vandalized once before, back in 2004, by two Superior Township men who painted it white and left a note bemoaning the death of two Detroit Police officers.
