7-Year-Old Boy Takes Loaded Gun To School

MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) - Some scary moments at a Mount Clemens elementary school Friday afternoon as a second grade boy took a loaded gun to school and showed it to another student.

Macomb County Sheriff Tony Wickersham says a third student told the teacher, who confiscated the handgun.

"A second grader, 7-year-old male student brought a handgun belonging to his mother to the school . This student then gave the gun to another student, who then told a third student," said Wickersham.

Where did a seven-year-old get a loaded gun?

"It was his mother's gun. It was registered to  his mother. It was in her dresser. He took it out of her dresser and brought it to school."

Wickersham says they're investigating if the mother will face charges, but it's fortunate that no one was hurt at Martin Luther King School and that the gun didn't go off.

An investigation into the incident continues.
