WOW Wraps Up Installation In Gibraltar

WOW Internet, Cable and Phone announced Friday that it has completed installation of its fiber optic cable network in Gibraltar. The project gives residents and business owners of Gibraltar another choice for cable TV, Internet and phone service.

Englewood, Colo.-based WOW, formerly Wide Open West,  is the 15th largest cable TV provider in the country. With a Michigan headquarters in Madison Heights, the company obtained a cable franchise for Gibraltar earlier this year. Construction began in April.

WOW said it had already invested over a million dollars in Gibraltar with this expansion, and will continue to invest in the community as its customer base grows.

"The customer demand for our products and customer service is much greater than we expected," said vice president of technical services Floyd Armstead. "We feel very fortunate to be able to serve the residents of Gibraltar and offer them an additional choice of providers."

Added senior vice president and general manager Mark Dineen: "The welcome we have received from the residents of Gibraltar has been tremendous. I have received notes and emails of appreciation."

WOW last year announced plans to expand into three communities adjacent to the 42 communities the company has already been serving for more than a decade. In addition to Gibraltar, these include the village of Beverly Hills and the city of Birmingham, which WOW completed last year, and Grosse Pointe Woods, where construction was finished earlier this week.

Consistent with its operating philosophy "to deliver an experience that lives up to its name," WOW communicates with residents throughout the entire network construction and activation process. These communications provide continuous updates so that residents know what to expect throughout the construction and activation process. More information can be found at www.wowway/comingsoon.com.

WOW Cable features Basic Cable, Digital Cable, and advanced services such as HDTV, VOD, and DVRs. WOW Internet provides customers with a choice of high speed connections from 2 Mbps all the way to 15 Mbps.  WOW Phone offers the convenience of unlimited local and local toll calling, as well as packages that include unlimited nationwide long distance in the United States. Customers can bundle any two or all three services together at a discount.
