Crime Stoppers Ups Reward For Tips In Party Shooting

DETROIT (WWJ) - The family of a man gunned down at a yard party last year in Detroit is asking for the public's help.

Police say Antoine Jones and his wife arrived at a lawn party that would be their last outing together, at a home at Evergreen and Orangelawn at

around 2 a.m. last July 11.

Tasha Jones said her husband went to talk to friends.

"After that, I saw Antoine in the street. Then, probably like three minutes after that, I didn't see him anymore and three minutes after that I heard the shots," she said.

The father of six lay dying, with wounds to the stomach and the chest. She said friends tried to stop the bleeding until help arrived.

"The two young ladies that were in the vehicle with me, they had some rags pressed on it," Jones said.

Jones tried to keep her husband talking, to keep him conscious. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and Jones believes her husband may have been set up by a friend.

Crime Stoppers has announced a reward for the person who turns in a tip by midnight Wednesday -- upping the reward by $1,000 to $3,500 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detroit Police or the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-SPEAK UP. You can also text your tip to CRIMES (274637).
