Event Notices From June 13

AimWest sets entrepreneurship, networking event: AimWest, the association for technology professionals in the Grand Rapids area, will hold its "Momentum Meetup & Networking" Wednesday, June 15 at 5:01 p.m. at Western Michigan University's downtown Grand Rapids campus, 200 Ionia Ave. SW. Presentations will take place from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. There will also be post-event networking at nearby Tavern on the Square, 100 Ionia Ave. SW, from 7 to 8 p.m. The Momentum class of 2011 represents the third year that Momentum, Grand Rapids' leading start-up catalyst, has selected the businesses that it will invest in, research for, mentor and ultimately launch. Competition was stiff this year, and now is your chance to meet the creative and technical geniuses who inspired Momentum's many experts -- from venture capitalists, lawyers, business owners, professors and more -- to take them under their wing. Momentum companies presenting are Booker, which makes online scheduling easy for customers and painless for businesses; Chext, an online service that allows couples to balance a shared checkbook via text messages, using the online tools to reconcile bank statements, flag transactions and predict future balances; Converati, a conversation platform modeled off of in-person conversation that's suitable for Web-based group discussions; and Weather Collage, which curates files via the intersection of atmospheric data and media. Register at www.aimwest.org/event-registration. The event is free for aimWest members and $20 for nonmembers.
