The New Science Fair: More $$, Less Nerdy
Most adults remember the science fair from their youth, in which students worked for months on experiments to present to judges at crowded cafeteria tables. Thanks to Siemens corporation sponsorship, the science fair has become a more glamorous competition.
The 2011 science fair competition fosters intensive research that improves students' understanding of the value of scientific study and informs their consideration of future careers in these disciplines. The maximum award is $100,000, and the contest is open to U.S. high school students.
