Detroit's Budget Battle Returns To Center Stage This Week
DETROIT (WWJ) - How to deal with Detroit's struggling finances takes a front seat again this week.
Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh says the main focus this week will be on that $30 million Mayor Dave Bing brought to the table.
"Will it be money that we can use to reduce the deficit," Pugh said. "That's the only thing I want to talk about, which means that if it is, then that means that we'll be cutting an additional $20 million instead of $50 million."
Council President Pro Tem Gary Brown says that's not new money because it's already in this year's budget, but Pugh says:
"It's not new money, but it is money that we can use to reduce the deficit. We're both right."
