Local Driver Turns Heads With His 'T-Rex'

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's called a T-Rex, it's a cross between a motorcycle and a car  and it goes up to 140 miles an hour. And, as WWJ's Vickie Thomas reports, a metro Detroiter who owns one turns heads wherever he goes with it.

When Del Batchelor pulled up to the gas pump in his red-hot red ride, heads were turning.

"This is a T-Rex, made by Campagna. It's a foreign bike," Batchelor said.

He said his ride is one of only two in the state.

"I'd like to see somebody else with one, you know, it would be nice to see another guy out here with a T-Rex," he said.

Batchelor admitted he wouldn't mind racing a fellow T-Rex Driver. "I only get a chance to race the Lamborghinis and Ferraris and they like 'hey, I gotta get one' it's that fast. It gives them a run."

He said the T-Rex goes from zero to 60 in 3.6 seconds. A brand new T-Rex will set you back about $54,000.
