Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) -  Major traffic delays were reported along northbound I-275 in southern Wayne County as a result of road construction.

WWJ's traffic reporter Terry T. Brown reported only one lane of the freeway was open at Cherry Hill Road Saturday afternoon because of bridge maintenance.  Only the right lane was open.  The lane closures were expected to continue until early Monday morning.

Drivers were backed up for at least one mile Saturday afternoon.  At least one car was pulled to the side because it overheated.  Other drivers were using the emergency turnarounds in the median to avoid the traffic jam.

Drivers may want to use Telegraph Road as an alternate.
