2 Charged In Ferndale iPod Theft

FERNDALE (WWJ)  - Two young  men are now in Ferndale Police custody, accused of stealing an iPod from someone they met on Craig's List.

According to police, EldonStephens and Steven Goodwin, both 18, went to meet the 18-year-old man victim who had posted an ad on the online classifieds site, hoping to sell the Apple music device.

The trio arranged to meet near the intersection Woodward Ave. and 8 Mile Road to make the sale. That's where the victim allowed the men into his car.

One of the suspects showed the money, and the victim handed him the Ipod. Police said the suspect than grabbed the iPod and ran and his partner grabbed the box containing the accessories and also ran.

The victim dialed 9-1-1, and police were able to track down the two suspects who were hiding between buildings in Ferndale west of Woodward off of 8 Mile.

After a brief struggle, both men were handcuffed and arrested, police said. Stephens and Goodwin were both arraigned Thursday afternoon and charged with larceny.

Police believe the pair may have been involved in other Craig's List crimes, and urge members of the public who may have been victimized to contact their local police.
